Week 1 in the can

Starting a new challenge can sometimes be a little daunting.  I mean ALL your bad habits are on check now and it can sometimes feel like you are losing a friend.

Food is always there for us right?  Like a friend right? Sometimes friends don't have your best interests at heart and cause you nothing but trouble!  So, sometimes we need to dump friends for our own good 🙂  That's what I have done... dumped my  friend "Processed Carbs".  You might know her as cakes, bread, pasta and pretty much anything made from white flour.  CYA later PC  🙂

On a serious note, I have to say, I was expecting this first week to be a lot harder than it was.  Mind you, I did find out that cardio when you are having issues with your sinuses is not ideal.  I felt like I was running with a medicine ball inside of my head, but I did it 🙂 The weight lifting?  Piece of cake.......well, until day 2 after leg day and I felt like I was carrying around 2 tree stumps for legs LOL but I got through it and didn't skip a workout.  It's hard to describe to someone the feeling that lifting gives you, but let's just say that I feel like I am back to myself again.

Good food makes you feel good.

Good food makes you feel good.

Part of feeling like my old self again is because of the good food I have been eating.  It never ceases to amaze me why we fall back into that eating pattern of unhealthy foods when healthy food makes us feel so much better.  It's like we go for 5 mins of gratification vs long term weight gain/poor health.  So, although sometimes I am feeling a little bit hungry (nothing major) I am realising that it's ok to feel hungry for a little while
."Suck it up princess and drink more water.".....lol

However, I am not advocating you should be hungry for a long time.  I am eating every 3 hours (roughly depending on work), to keep those cravings at bay.  And following this I have managed to loose just over a kilo this week but I am focusing on how I feel more than the numbers at the moment.  It's also too early to notice any difference in photos but I can tell you my tummy does feel flatter and not so bloated 🙂

So, into week 2 I go - just as excited as week 1.  Let's hope my sinuses play nice this week.
